  • GFCF Diet Results

Yes, We have been on the Gluten Free Casein Free diet for about 3 weeks now. We were doubting it's effectiveness but knew that it might take for 3 months to see any results if any.

Yesterday Josiah woke up earlier than us and helped himself to some bread. He was super HYPER yesterday morning, his eyes were dancing, he was jumping up and down, throwing toys in the air, and when we called him it would take us 3-5 attempts to get his attention. Normally he is very obedient and would respond right away. It was as if we were communicating with him through a fog. We immediately gave him the Peptizyde enzymes and within an hour and half our son was calmer, and more focused.

We both were hurting to see his reaction to gluten and casein, but were relieved at the same time as we knew the diet had made him a lot calmer and more placent.

We are so pleased to see that the Lord has used this diet to reduce Josiah's hyperactivity and stimming behaviours. He seems to be less obsessed with things he used to be and a lot keener on learning.

We suspect that he has a gluten allergy of such as his stools have always been on the loose side and have undigested articles in them. We will be seeing our doctor this week and kindly request the test to be carried out. The down side of this is the Josiah has to be off the diet to 2-3 prior to the test to get accurate results. So off the diet we are, and may the Lord sustain our sanity over the next few days..

Edit: First day off of the GFCF diet and Josiah seems miserable, regularly sucking and taking comfort from his blanket with sad eyes...it hurts to see him this way..

Dear sister in the Lord (wedhappily),

I pray and trust all is well with you and family. After coming across this particular journal entry, I thought to comment on it and share some links today, and hope you don't mind. Have you heard about the Hallelujah Acres Diet & Lifestyle (85% raw food and 15% cooked food)? If not, please be encouraged to learn more about it (it is a Christian organization/ministry). I pray that perhaps trying it might be helpful.

If interested, more information and videos at:

    http://www.hacres.com/diet/research.asp (research on hyperactivity, etc.)

Also, I know you must be very busy with raising your family and homeschooling now, but please know that I (and surely others) have missed reading your journals since last year 2008. If you are able and have the time again, please update sometime with family news, photos, etc., as they are good reminders to keep you and family in prayers. It would be a blessing to read some of your journal posts again and see how your children have grown! Your journal has been a joy and encouragement to me (and surely others) on how the Lord is working in your lives--thank you so much for sharing!

May the Lord richly bless and keep you and family this year.
